Double Wall Bowl

Ok, so this is the first  of 52 bowls I'll be making specifically for this year's challenge! (of course I'll be making tons more bowls for my artfairs, galleries, ect)
How it's done:  I made an egg.  Yep, an egg.  I threw a hollow egg form on the wheel.  Then, I compressed the heck out of it to prepare the clay for what I was about to do next.  I poked holes into the base of the egg to allow air to escape (beause once I closed the form all the air was trapped in there)  I then gradually pushed inthe center or top of the egg until it started to "fall" in on it's self.  I kept pushing and refining the shape until the top of the egg became the bottom of the inner bowl.  Make sense?  Then I let it dry for a day and timmed it and cut out the pattern that you see.  I agree, this patter in a little "safe".  But, it's my first one, I'm just getting warmed up!  I then did a little slip trailing design on the rim for some more visual and textural interest.
I am happy with this bowl because of its craftsmenship.  I feel that it is a good, sturdy bowl that is "uniquely functional" (my business motto).  So, in my eyes, SUCCESS!
Already thinking of ideas for next week's bowl! yayyyy
