I love this bowl because of how decorated it is. I started with a simple bowl and the cut out chunks using a cheese slicer the carved out designs and finally added slip trailed dots and lines. It might not look calming, but oddly enough, it was very peaceful to make.

Just for fun Bowl
Yeah, I know. I'm late. This lovely bowl should have been made and posted sometime last week. But it wasn't, it was made this morning and is now being posted. I'M SORRY! I had a huge week and even bigger weekend, but, if I'm being honest, (looking back) there were plenty of opportunities for me to have made this bowl. I gotta admit, I'm a little discouraged now. I was really proud of myself for posting on time last year with teapots, and then, BAM, in Feb I'm already late. Grrrrrrr Well, enough self disciplining, on to the good stuff.
I love the wavy rim. I seem to be doing this a lot in my "normal" work too. I even did a variation of it on my last bowl. Like i said before, i like movement. I want you to look at my piece for more than two seconds. In fact i want you to look at it for a long time and maybe even purchase it and then years later still see stuff you didn't notice before like a glaze drip or a certain, new color that seems to appear when this glaze overlapped the other, ect. I think that's what makes good art in general. Because finding all those little details will spark a feeling and that feeling is why I do what i do. I want to bring joy and emotion to you though my pots. :)

Petal Bowl
Finished "double walled bowl" and "rose bowl". Whatcha think? I think they turned out lovely.
Cool pick of the wheels :)
And this is why I named it a Petal Bowl. I think it looks like a flower from above :).
I wanted it to be a pasta bowl. I think those are usually shaped like cone, realy tall and hold lost of noodles!
Here's a great shot. I usually use that middle wheel, but I felt bad for my manual kick wheel, so I decied to throw this weeks bowl on her :). Isn't she a beauty?

Condiment Bowls
This is something I've been wanting to make for years! A condiment set. I am big on ranch, katchup, ect so this is right up my ally. The bowls are big enough for candy too! I love how the set all flows together. the rims all "match". :) I threw the bowls "off the hump" and then trimmed them. I altered their rims and then added the slip decoration. The tray is made from a slab of clay that i laid over three little bowls. Once the slab dried a little it stiffened up and i could flip it right side up. I altered the tray's rim and added slip to that as well. The bowls fit nicely and are very stable in the tray :) I love this set of bowls!

The "creative fish" bowl
I made this bowl while demonstrating at a class I am teaching at the Creative Fish Art Gallery in Syracuse, IN. I threw the bowl to demonstrate how to throw a bowl on the pottery wheel and it turned out pretty good. (usually when i'm demonstrating something goes wrong-of course, but not this time) I then transported the bowl back to my studio, orver an hour away and trimmed the foot and carved out the design you see here. I'm proud of this bowl. It has a rounded inside, like half of a circle with no ledge where the walls meet the base ( one of my pet peeves-flat bottom bowls!) i love the rim. The size of the rim is nice and the patter i just free handed. before i cut out the rim i altered it and these alterations are what inspired my cutting. The trimmed foot ring is very nice and just finishes the piece. I've named this piece after the place it was concieved...i here parents do this too. (i guess these pots are my kids haha)

"Rose Bowl"
This is my version of the rose bowl. I think it has to do with football, i dont know :) but i know i love this bowl. My neighbor at my local farmers market gave me a flower at the end of the market and that gesture inspired this bowl. I like it. It's fresh, natural and organic, just like the produce my farmers market neighbors sell! Haha
